This litter is named after the hit western TV show Gunsmoke. Gunsmoke centered on the character Matt Dillon, a U.S. Marshall, charged with maintaining law and order in the frontier town of Dodge City. The supporting characters included Miss Kitty Russell, owner of the Long Branch Saloon; Doc Adams, the town's physician; and Deputy Marshall Chester Goode, Dillon's loyal sidekick. Gunsmoke aired from 1955 to 1975 and was the longest-running western series on US network television.
